In Jingdezhen, a gaiwan is never treated as a mere cup — it is an instrument of slowing down. Formed from pure local kaolin clay with micro-porous walls, it retains the high brewing temperatures needed for rock oolongs while releasing delicate floral aromatics.
The thin, flared lip pours clean with zero drips, allowing you to appreciate the evolving flavor profiles across eight to ten consecutive infusions.
Rinse porcelain bowl and cups with boiling water to awaken the clay.
Briefly flash-rinse tea leaves to release initial roasted aromatics.
Steep for 10–15 seconds, tilting the lid slightly to pour a pure amber stream.

"Lovely, with a handmade touch. Beautiful classic blue and white, lid fits snugly and it holds heat well. Took one star off because the lotus painting is a little different from the close-up shot — but they do say every piece is hand-painted, so I get it. Still a gorgeous gaiwan for the price."
"My dad's new favorite. Bought this for my father who's been doing gongfu cha for decades, and he's picky. He said the crackle glaze is gorgeous and the pour is clean with no drips. The three different glazes are a classy touch."
"Looks way more expensive than it is. The mix of wood and ceramic beads is really elegant, and it stacks beautifully with my watch. Got several compliments the first day I wore it. Nice weight to it, feels solid, not cheap."
Every order is double-boxed by hand in Jingdezhen. This is how it actually leaves — full details on the packaging page.
We check the exact piece for your order and photograph it before anything is wrapped. Ask and we send you the photos.
Each piece is wrapped and seated in its own gift box — lids and cups separated so nothing can knock together.
The gift box goes inside a corrugated outer carton with moulded foam and honeycomb wrap, so it cannot touch the walls.
Handed to a fragile-goods express line with tracking. The tracking number is emailed to you as soon as the parcel is on its way.
