Qingci (青瓷集) is an independently owned online shop selling Jingdezhen porcelain and ceramic jewellery. It is run from Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, China — the city that has been firing porcelain for over a thousand years.
Where this shop comes from
My parents worked in one of Jingdezhen’s ceramics factories. When they were laid off, they did what a lot of families here did: they kept working with clay at home, in a small workshop of their own.
I grew up around it and learned to paint porcelain there. That is the part of the craft I do myself — brushwork, not firing. Like most independent painters and small studios in this city, I take finished pieces to a kiln to be fired; almost nobody outside the big factories runs their own.
Eventually I opened this shop. It is the same city, the same suppliers, the same kilns — just sold directly instead of through a market stall.
What we actually do
We are a retailer, not a factory, and we want to be plain about that. Most of what you see here is selected from small studios and kilns in and around the Jingdezhen kiln districts — the same local network the whole city buys from. We check each piece by hand, photograph it, and list it. When a piece sells, we pack and ship it ourselves from Jingdezhen.
Because pieces come from small batches, a glaze colour or a painted line may vary slightly between two items of the same product. We consider that normal for kiln-fired ceramics, not a defect, and we say so on the product pages rather than photographing one perfect example and hiding the rest.
The masters behind Jingdezhen’s kilns
Qingci does not put a master’s name on a piece we cannot verify — most of what we sell comes from small independent studios, and we say so plainly. But Jingdezhen is also home to a small number of nationally recognised porcelain masters, and it is their decades of technique — color-glaze chemistry, underglaze painting, imperial-kiln restoration — that the whole city’s craft, including ours, is built on. We are licensed to feature their portraits and credentials here as a record of the tradition Jingdezhen porcelain comes from.

How we describe our products
Where we have verified it, the product page states how that specific piece was made — wheel-thrown or slip-cast, hand-painted underglaze or transfer-printed, single-fired or twice-fired. We only call something hand-painted when it is hand-painted. Pieces made in a classic or vintage style are described that way; we do not present new work as antique. Where a piece was made by one of the studios above, the product page names them; where it was not, we name the method instead of inventing a person.
Ordering, payment and delivery
- Payment is processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe’s systems and never reach our servers.
- Shipping is US tracked worldwide, or US.90 for ceramic bracelets; orders of US or more ship free. The exact rate is shown in your cart before you pay. Orders are dispatched from China, normally within 1–3 business days.
- Packaging is double-boxed with moulded foam for fragile items. See our packaging page.
- Breakage is refunded in full. If a piece arrives damaged, send us a photo and we reship or refund — your choice.
- Returns are accepted within 30 days on unused items. Full terms are on the returns page.
Who runs this shop
Qingci is independently owned and operated — it is not a marketplace storefront or a reseller network. The shop is run from Jingdezhen by its owner, and orders are packed and dispatched from the registered address below.
The business is licensed for internet retail; its registration can be checked against the Unified Social Credit Code below on China’s National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System (gsxt.gov.cn).
