Material & craft

Rice-grain porcelain — linglong ware — is one of Jingdezhen’s four classic crafts. Before the first firing, artisans pierce hundreds of rice-shaped openings through the thin clay wall, then flood them with layer after layer of clear glaze. In the kiln the glaze fuses into tiny windows of glass, so the finished plate carries a border of luminous grains that only reveal themselves against the light.

Why we selected it

Each dragon is painted freehand in cobalt on the raw body — no transfers, no decals — so the whiskers, claws and clouds differ slightly from plate to plate. The set is fired above 1,300 °C, where the blue sinks beneath the glaze and takes on its quiet, watery depth.

Before you order

Questions buyers actually ask.

What is rice-grain (linglong) porcelain?
The tiny translucent "grains" around the border are real piercings, filled with glaze and fired to glass. It is a Jingdezhen speciality with centuries of history — hold a plate up to a lamp and the whole border lights up.
Are they for daily use or display?
Both. They are glazed, food-safe deep plates that handle noodles, dumplings and fruit well; the dragon medallion also makes them lovely on a stand or wall. Each plate ships separately wrapped in double-boxed, shock-proof packaging.

The rice-grain effect is magic. The linglong (rice-grain) windows are even cooler in real life — hold it up to the light and those tiny translucent dots just glow. Holds a proper amount of tea and the lid keeps it warm. This is officially my new desk mug.

Daughter is obsessed. So cute! Got it for my daughter and she's obsessed with feeding it coins. The red is vibrant with a nice glossy finish, and it's good quality for the price. A cheerful little shelf friend.

Perfect for my ritual. Exactly what I wanted for my incense. The crackle glaze is subtle and the tripod shape is classic. Good size, sits stable, and it arrived intact. The celadon tone is very calming.
