Material & craft

This refined Ru-kiln inspired gaiwan set brings a calm scholar-studio mood to the tea table. The lidded bowl and saucer are finished in a smooth matte porcelain glaze, with a fine amber-brown rim that gives each piece a warm, handmade accent. Choose the soft celadon green for a classic Zen feeling, dusty pink for a gentle contemporary note, or ivory white for a clean, timeless look.

Why we selected it

Style it on a dark stone tray, walnut tea table, or minimalist shelf. It works beautifully for oolong, white tea, green tea, or as a refined display piece between tea sessions.

Before you order

Questions buyers actually ask.

How do I choose among the three glazes?
Celadon green is the classic tea-table choice, dusty pink the softest on a bright shelf, ivory white the purest for reading tea color. Choose your variant at checkout.
Does Ru-style glaze crackle over time?
Ru-manner glazes often develop a fine, subtle crackle as they live with tea — prized by collectors as the glaze 'opening'. Gentle use, gentle change.
What is included per set?
The traditional gaiwan trio — bowl, lid and saucer — in whichever glaze color you select.

We publish every review we receive, including the ones that are not five stars.

My dad's new favorite. Bought this for my father who's been doing gongfu cha for decades, and he's picky. He said the crackle glaze is gorgeous and the pour is clean with no drips. The three different glazes are a classy touch. Packaging was really solid — arrived all the way to the UK in one piece.

Lovely, with a handmade touch. Beautiful classic blue and white, lid fits snugly and it holds heat well. Took one star off because the lotus painting is a little different from the close-up shot — but they do say every piece is hand-painted, so I get it. Still a gorgeous gaiwan for the price.

Unreal glaze. The flambe glaze on this set is stunning — deep cobalt with these fiery streaks that no photo fully captures. Pours cleanly and the cups feel great in the hand. Makes my afternoon tea feel a little ceremonial.
